The beginning of the Church Year is the First Sunday in Advent. This falls on the Sunday closest to November 30 (or four Sundays prior to Christmas).
This year we begin on December 3rd and close Advent on Sunday, December 24, which presents an interesting little conundrum… Is that the 4th Sunday of Advent or Christmas Eve (the Nativity)?
Our Dual Parish has solved this puzzle by having the 4th Sunday of Advent at Immanuel Lutheran Chapel at 10:45 am and then celebrating the Nativity/Christmas Eve with a traditional Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols at St. Paul’s in College Hill at 7:00 pm.
I must say that I am looking forward to BOTH Services this Sunday. Check out our Children’s Program at the 10:45 am Service at Immanuel Chapel at the Sermons Page (click here) and be sure to be at St. Paul’s – College Hill for our Annual Christmas by Candlelight Service at 7:00 pm (click here for more info…)
May you be Blessed this Christmas as we Celebrate Together!
